The Stigma Stomp
988
Our family had a wonderful family Thanksgiving in 2020. Unknown to us, one of our family members was struggling far more than we knew. Ronnie Cooper would take his life before Christmas. Not a day goes by that we don't think about him, not a family event passes that we don't look at each other and know exactly what the other is thinking. For me it was pain reborn. I was nineteen when my mother took her life.
We can't bring back those who we loved and lost, all we can do is try to help others. Every year Spanky's helps sponsor the Stigma Stomp. The Stigma Stomp is a 5K (3.1 mile) race that is used to promote suicide awareness.
Three things I want to share with you. (1) The Stigma Stomp IV will be on September 21st. Please run and support awareness. (2) Remember the number 988. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, PLEASE call this number. (3) Check out the video below, it's a great video that explains how depression works. There are other videos below, but the first one (labeled watch me) helped me understand.
